This hippo is hungry, so watch out!
Just like all the kids love their snacks, this hippo must have his BURG-ER!

- Size US C (2.75 mm)
- Adjust hook size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge.

Notes
When working within the pattern, use the invisible single crochet two together instead of single crochet two together to create a less visible decrease. Refer to a tutorial if needed for this technique.
Hippo Pattern

Arms (make 2)
Rnd 1 (RS): With A, create a magic ring, 6 sc in ring; do not join – 6 sc. Place marker to indicate beginning of round.
Note: Loop a short piece of yarn around any stitch to mark Rnd 1 as the right side (RS). Stuff lightly with polyester fiberfill as you make the arm, leaving the top ½” (1.5 cm) unstuffed. Move the stitch marker up with each round.
Rnd 2: (Sc in next st, 2 sc in next st) around – 9 sc.
Rnd 3: (Sc in next 2 sts, 2 sc in next st) around – 12 sc.
Rnd 4: 2 sc in next st, sc in next 11 sts – 13 sc.
Rnds 5-9: Sc in each st around.
Fasten off.
Note: Change color in the last stitch of Rnd 9.
Rnds 10-16: Join B, sc in each st around.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing to the body.
Leg 1

Top Bun

Base Bun
Rnd 1 (RS): With D, create a magic ring, 6 sc in ring; do not join – 6 sc.

Rnd 3: Sl st in each st around; join with a sl st to first st. Fasten off.
Cheese
With E, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): (Sc, ch 2) four times in the 2nd ch from the hook; join with a sl st to first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, *sc in sc, (sc, ch 1, sc) in ch-2 sp; rep from * around; join with a sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
Lettuce
With F, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; do not join – 6 sc.
Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 3) two times in each st; join with sl st to first st. Fasten off.
Burger
With G, ch 2.
Rnd 1 (RS): 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with sl st to first sc – 6 sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around; join with sl st to first sc – 12 sc. Fasten off.
Joining
Layer the burger in order: Top Bun, Cheese, Lettuce, Burger, Base Bun, and use a yarn needle and D to sew them together.
Finishing
Sew the nose onto the face below the eyes, stuffing with polyester fiberfill before closing.
Use photos of the finished project as a guide and sew the ears onto the top of the head.
Sew the arms onto the body.
Sew the burger to one hand and then sew the top of the burger to the bottom of the nose.
Sew the opposite arm down to the body.
